Support Seniors, Veterans and More thru No One Wants Program

2017 No One Wants (NOW) Program

Share the love of Christ this Christmas through our
No One Wants programs at Holy Cross!

Two ways to donate:

1. Use the N.O.W. offering envelope to donate funds

2. Donate gift items for 20 Veterans families in need ($25 limit, UNWRAPPED gifts please!)

Your donations will support the following groups:

A.  Veterans families: This year Holy Cross is  providing funds for Target gift cards and gifts to 20 veterans families in need at the San Jose Vet Center.  Your monetary NOW contributions can be placed in the offering plate or in our office.  The money will pay for gift cards for the veterans  families we are supporting this year.  Please place the money in an envelope marked NOW and place it in the offering plate or in the church office. Make checks out to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and memo it “NOW”.

B.  Our Children’s Center will have a tree with gift tags for the children from those veterans families and they will provide gifts for the veterans children.  The adults in those needy veterans families will have tags on a tree in our narthex.  Please limit the cost of the gifts to a maximum of $25 each. You may place your UNWRAPPED gift under the tree with the person’s numbered tag attached to your gift. If your gift is a gift card, please attach the person’s numbered tree tag to it and place it in the offering plate. Do NOT place  gift cards under the tree.

C. New gifts for teens COME program - supporting our alliance with First Immanuel Lutheran Church “Community Outreach Ministry Endeavor” (COME) program for needy families in downtown San Jose.  Place your donated new, UNWRAPPED items in the green tubs under the tree in the narthex.  Please limit the cost of the gifts to the teens to a maximum of $25 each. If you contribute a gift card for a teen (Target, movie theaters, restaurants, etc.) please place the gift card in an envelope marked “NOW Teens” in the offering basket. We will ensure these go with the unwrapped gifts to COME program teens.  Do NOT place the gift cards under the tree. You may place these items in the green tubs.  We will transport them to First Immanuel as the tubs fill.

D. Supporting Holy Cross members and our Children’s Center families who are in extreme need with monetary donations toward the purchase Target and Arco gift cards.  Your monetary contribution to NOW in the provided envelopes will be collected by Holy Cross and we will purchase the gift cards once the funds are in. Please make checks to Holy Cross, memo: NOW.

E. Hope Seniors - We will again provide for seniors who are mentally and physically challenged at Hope Rehabilitation Services with adult men’s and women’s large and extra-large sized hooded, zip front sweatshirts, sample sized toiletries and Tulip brand dimensional fabric paint squeeze bottles (at Michael’s crafts store).  HOPE also said the seniors like $5 gift cards to Michael’s so they can choose their own items for arts and crafts.  Please place HOPE items in the ORANGE tub for Hope Seniors.  Please give any Hope Seniors “Michael’s” gift cards to either Donna Balistreri or Kathy Spenhoff.
