                                                                                          Joni and Friends

Nearly 1 billion people around the world live with disabilities. Many of these individuals and
their families
live in poverty, pain, and despair. Joni and Friends is committed to bringing the
Gospel and practical resources to people impacted by disability around the globe.
For the
past 40 years, it has been Joni and Friend's mission to present the hope of the Gospel to
people affected by disability through programs and outreaches around the world. We energize
the church, and move people from lack of awareness to embracing people of all abilities into
the fabric of worship, fellowship, and outreach. We also train and mentor people with disabilities
to exercise their gifts of leadership and service in their churches and communities.

Joni and Friend's Family Retreat

Joni and Friend's Family Retreats at Mission Springs in Scott's Valley offer a haven for special
needs families. Here, families are cared for, encouraged, and rejuvenated in a Christ centered,
fully accessible camp environment.  Each Retreat site provides worship, teaching, fun,
age-appropriate activities and cultivates meaningful connections with families who understand
the challenges of life with disability.

Several Holy Cross members have served at the family camp.  You can help by volunteering as
a Short Term Missionary (STM).  An STM serves as a companion to a child or adult with a
disability or to a typical sibling.  In this role, your job is to be their friend for the week, giving the
gift of your time and love. You’ll join your assigned family for meals and a wide variety of program
activities. Following the afternoon free time of about an hour and a half, you will rejoin your family

for evening activities.  If you would like to volunteer or have additional questions, please contact
Art Larson through the church office at 408-356-3525 or
