Czech English Camp

Holy Cross continues to be blessed to be a part of the Czech Republic Youth English Camp - a exciting partnership ministry started in 2003. You are encouraged to learn about this special ministry opportunity even if it's only a maybe idea for you. Teens and adults participate with significant financial help from donations to Short-term Missions and fund-raisers sponsored by the Missions Team. We serve with the great team in the Czech Republic guided by Pastor Michal Klus. Fellowship, music, friendships, witnessing all fill this amazing week of growth and service among the Lord's young people. Questions? Call Marie Russell or Anyssy Binni via the church office.

Taiwan Mission Team Trips

We were blessed to have Mission team trips to Taiwan in April of 2013 and also 2016.

In 2013, we started in Chia Yi, a city where we served at a large Lutheran Middle school. In two days, we led 7 English classes with visual and conversational presentations, and were blessed to join an early-morning Bible study worship time with many of the students one day. The next few days were spent in a southern city, Tainan. The congregations there were so welcoming and faith-full partners as we helped with youth gatherings, campus witnessing, and church services. The final stop was at the China Lutheran Seminary, not far from the airport near Taipei. We shared at the seminary, and led Bible study for the workers. We were also blessed to join one of the professors, Pastor Scharrer, and his team who regularly lead Mission visits to numerous prisons and immigration detention centers there. What an experience - especially the joy of Vietnamese detainees as they heard the Good News from Pastor JP Cima, our Missionary partner who had been serving in Vietnam but was able to join us in Taiwan for a few days. God is really working everywhere!

In 2016, another team of 6 were able visit Tainan again and the seminary. In Tainan, we mostly served at a small, inner city, 7th-floor church - Glorious Light. We experienced a "miracle response" on that Saturday evening: Almost all day we had gone out in teams sharing with people in the neighborhood and on a nearby campus, including an invitation to a supper fellowship time that evening. Hopeful prayer seemed disappointed as heavy rain hit the city and no one seemed to be coming. We finished the meal and a devotion, and headed to our rooms. BUT, at about 9:30, a knock came on the door - 3 young people, dripping wet, were looking for the gathering they heard about that afternoon. The pastor and all of us guys were overjoyed to spend over an hour getting to know them and sharing the message of the Lord with them. A God moment! The last few days were spent at the seminary, sharing there and at a prison for young men - helped by a dear Taiwan friend and her niece and friend - God keeps making connections.

Continue Praying for our Missionary Partners

- The Oliver family serves in Taiwan at the China Lutheran seminary.  We have been blessed to serve with them on two Mission trips to Taiwan - and pray for more opportunities ahead.

- The Cima family serving in Cambodia.  JP and Aimee are flourishing in their new assignment in Phnom Penh amd nearby villages.  A Mission team trip to serve with them there is also in our prayers.

- A missionary family serving in Central Asia. We pray for their multi-faceted ministries to help the people in special ways as they share the Good News in challenging conditions.

We are so blessed to be connected in faith and prayer and support of these faithful servants of our Lord. We frequently receive updates from each of them as they respond to opportunities God provides for them as they share the Good News of Christ’s love in very difficult situations. God is truly working wonders through them.  Their newsletters are included in our monthly church Messenger and are also posted on the Mission Kiosk outside church. We have also truly been blessed by the occasional visits they have all arranged to share their Mission experiences with us at Holy Cross when they are on temporary furloughs back in the US.

Plan Ahead - Mission Committee Opportunities

Join us when the Mission Team meets to plan and encourage participation in all our great mission opportunities. We meet about once each quarter (announced in our bulletins).  Holy Cross is truly blessed for this on-going ministry spreading the Gospel in so many ways.  These meetings are full of the Lord’s Spirit. We’ll be completing plans for the annual Bowl-a-thon for Missions, prayerfully planning our "Mission trip to Holy Cross" as well as international Mission team trips, and also organizing other Mission fundraisers, and all the other opportunities coming ahead. Questions? Call Joan Eckert via the church office, 408-356-3525.
