Senior Pastor Scott D. Perry

Pastor Scott and Thao (along with then 2 1/2 year old son, Andrew) came to serve as a pastor of Holy Cross in September of 2001.

Pastor Scott met his lovely wife, Thao at a missions conference in St. Louis called New Directions. They embarked on a brand new direction that day!  At the conference, Thao was sharing with a large group how God had used her tumultuous journey from Vietnam to the U.S. to come to more fully know the love and hope of Christ.  Thao had recently been baptized at St. Peter’s Vietnamese Lutheran church in St. Louis.  Scott and Thao were married at St. Peter’s in 1998.  Thao lived her first fifteen years of life in the war-torn county of Vietnam, 4 years in Nashville, TN, 9 years in St. Louis, MO and now going on fifteen years in the beautiful Santa Clara Valley.  Thao earned an M.S. from St. Louis University in Organic Chemistry in 1998 and presently works in the medicinal research department at Gilead Life Sciences in Foster City, CA.

Pastor Scott grew up in Anoka, Minnesota and went to Bethany Lutheran College and Minnesota State University in Mankato, and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. Pastor Scott  also received an M.A. from San Jose State University in the area of Communication Studies in 2008.  God has gifted him wth  the gift of fluency in Mandarin Chinese and he loves to study history, culinary arts and play the trombone.

Thao and Scott have two sons, Andrew Hieu (16) and Justin Scott (12).  Andrew and Justin both love sports and are very active at Holy Cross in children and youth ministry.  The family enjoys camping, hiking and biking together.  Scott and Thao love to cook and specialize in preparing Southeast Asian cuisine.  Thao is an especially amazing cook and Scott encourages her in this hobby by doing his part in the role as eater!

Pastor Scott and Thao’s hope and prayer is that you would put your trust and hope in Jesus our true and living Savior and Lord.  May You know His true peace and rest in our restless world.  Whether you are a brand new believer or have been a Christian for many years, there is always a next step in following Christ.  Talk with Pastor Scott more about this.  Please come and visit a worship service at Holy Cross soon at either the 8:30 traditional or the 11:00 Praise and Worship style service.  Pastor Scott also teaches a Bible study in the New Life Building every Sunday morning between the two worship services.  Everyone is welcome!
